Granite

Hi, I am Granite! You have probably seen me around. I am typically used in very important buildings and monuments. I am such a popular Texas rock that I was even used in the State Capitol. Here at the Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium, I have a very special job. I help honor the veterans who have served in all wars. Thank you, Rocco, for bringing your friends to meet me!

Formation

Granite is an igneous rock consisting mostly of feldspar with minor mica, amphibole, and pyroxene. This intrusive igneous rock forms when magma crystallizes and slowly cools.
